What to expect

Each week, your child will be involved in two sessions of targeted and in-depth learning. In these classes, your child will be introduced to the various mathematical concepts that they will see in the year ahead; giving them a vital head-start over their peers, and allow them to solidify these new concepts through completion of various questions, ranging from simple, to more advanced exam-style questions, which will propel their learning forward, and allow them to excel in the year ahead.

Session 1:

In the first 1-hour class of each week, students will be introduced to a particular topic for that week. During this introduction, relevant methods of calculation will be provided to them, and the ways that students should utilize these methods to obtain the correct answers, in precise, efficient and effective ways. Continuing from this, students will follow along as our tutors answer questions, giving them time to ask questions along the way, overall learning the fundamentals that will be necessary in the year ahead. After concluding the theory and questions for the first session, students will be provided with a set of homework questions which will allow them to solidify what was learned in first session of each week.

Session 2:

The second 1-hour class of the week, students will be led through the strategies and answers to the problem set given to them at the end of the first session. Following this, students will be introduced to many of the more difficult, exam-style or test-style questions they may encounter. Time will be allocated for them to attempt each question, and after the time has elapsed, our tutors will review student answers before running through the best method to answer each question before moving onto the next exam-style question. This allows for time to answer any student questions as well as to efficiently progress through all the content necessary to equip the students for their 2023 mathematics classes.

Why we run our weeks this way:

By splitting each week into two 1-hour sessions, students benefit by having the first of the two classes based solely around the concepts that will be studied, with time to reflect on what was learned in the class, followed by taking the time to attempt and complete the questions set out by our tutors to the best of their abilities, and then finally finishing off their learning through a set of difficult questions in the final session of the week. This will challenge students and solidify what they learned in the first class of the week.
